- Simple Metric Modulations (Freeware)

A Metric Modulation is a tempo change created by means of a common duration. For example, you could modulate from quarter-note = 60 to quarter-note = 120 by noting that an eighth-note at 60 is equal to a quarter-note at 120. This simple example can be done in your head.

But suppose you wanted to modulate from 72 to 96? Or suppose you had a starting tempo, and wanted to know where you could modulate by using a simple metric modulation?
Simple Metric Modulations makes finding the answers to these problems quick and easy.

The Interface is divided into two halves. On the left, you can enter a starting tempo and find possible modulations. On the right, you can enter any two quarter-note values (including decimals) and find the simple modulations that can be made between them. Although the interface is intuitive, usage Instructions are provided by the help button, and can also be viewed on the web.

By the way, a "simple" metric modulation is one that can be achieved using these note values:
* whole-notes, half-notes, quarter-notes, eighth-notes, sixteenth-notes, and thirty-second-notes;
* dotted half-notes, dotted quarter-notes, dotted eighth-notes, and dotted sixteenth-notes;
* half-note triplets, quarter-note triplets, eighth-note triplets, and sixteenth-note triplets;
* quarter-note quintuplets, eighth-note quintuplets, and sixteenth-note quintuplets.
